Scandal Makers aka Speedy Scandal

Chae Tae-hyun is at his best in this family dramatic comedy featuring mostly a younger cast.

"Former teen idol Nam Hyeon-soo (Cha Tae-hyun) who thinks he is pretty popular is now in his thirties and working as a radio DJ. A young woman named Hwang Jeong-nam (Park Bo-young) sent stories about her being a single mother to the radio station Hyeon-soo worked at, telling him she is going to meet her father. When he finds out that he is the father of Jeong-nam when she comes to his apartment with her son Ki-Dong (Wang Seok-hyeon). He also finds out that Jeong-nam was his first love's name and the other Jeong-nam's real name is Jae-in"
Nam Hyeon-soo is a former idol who believes he is still on top when he is really not but manages to survive due to being a radio DJ. His false arrogance leads he to slight trouble when he realizes he is no longer on the top of his game and is just a radio DJ to most the listeners. His whole world is shattered when he learns that not only is he a father but he's also a grandfather. Nam Hyeon-soo can't believe his incredible bad luck thinking that this will cause a scandal and possibly end his career. He tries to hide the relationship but struggles to do so when his feelings change and he becomes a better person.

Nam Hyeon-soo proves to be a decent man after spending a lot of time with his new found family. He starts to act more like a father and a grandfather towards his daughter and grandson. The man does have his faults and makes mistakes but he realizes when he is wrong. He is a man who doesn't know himself at times but comes to realize it towards the end of the film. We see Nam Hyeon-soo adapt to his new lifestyle and new roommates.

Hwang Jeong-nam is a simple girl that only wants three things: 1 to be a singer, 2 to raise her son, and last but not least to spend time with her father. Jeong-nam is a young girl who is very much like her father in the aspect of having a child quite early in life. She comes to find him in order to understand what it is like to have a father since he never met him while the other children around had fathers that were there for them. Her character is a bit annoying in the beginning as she is suppose to be. She grows on us just like she does to Nam Hyeon-soo. At times she touches our heart with how sincere she is and other times she makes us laugh or even smile when we hear her sing her heart out.

Ki-dong may be small but he has an important role. At first you are annoyed at him as well but he also grows on you. He is also a lot smarter than he acts sometimes which made me smile. Ki-dong is an experienced gambler as well as a piano player. He inherited his musical talent from his mother who got hers from her fathers. So without breaking the chain, Ki-dong continues the tradition of music in the family. It is with his help that Hyeon-soo learns how to be a better person. He is often used as his grandfathers tool to spy on his teacher in order for Hyeon-soo to attract the teacher. As young as he is, the information he gives isn't always one hundred percent correct but he earns an A for his skills.

Chae Tae-Hyun surprised me in this role, not only can he do comedy but can handle his own with drama as well. Maybe he used his experience as a father in real life in order to add more depth to his character. His singing voice isn't all that bad either which also surprised me quite a bit even though he only sings once in the entire movie.
Park Bo-young who played Jeong nam was also interesting to see since this was the first piece of work I have seen from her and hopefully its not the last.
Wang Seok-hyun was excellent in his first role ever and I hope he keeps that adorable smile.
