Sexy in the wrong way: IU

IU is arguably one of the most famous Korean singers to westerners. All was good until a few things about this idol started to pop up that are a bit strange. First she was caught in a scandal when she uploaded a picture on her social media account depicting her in her pajamas and a shirtless male idol close together.

Now, I have no problem with this as I think she is entitled to date whoever she wants to even if she is an idol. I have a problem with her saying she did it on accident, a lot of people nowadays are very tech savy so I kind of doubt she did it by mistake. Though I understand why she would hide it, I respect her for being private with her relationships.

After learning about all of her scandals, I am getting the feeling that she loves the negative attention. I watched her new video "23", which is very sexual and very weird. She licks her finger a lot and tastes a few cakes. She also gets flipped off by a skeleton and even stuffs her shirt with apples for some reason. I have heard that this video has been banned in South Korea and that a few netizens are trying to get her banned. Now, there some people are saying that she plagiarized Britney Spears. Basically, if you listen closely to the song you can hear a sample of Britney Spears singing a part in the background of the song. But no one gave her credit or notice about this, so it is upsetting some big people in the music industry (plus Britney Spears fans).

She is also caught up in an another scandal because she chose to sexualize a children's book character. The book itself is about a boy who is friends with a tree, its has very serious undertones because the boy suffers abuse and the tree is his only outlet. IU chose to make the friendship sexual, so she basically wrote and sang a song about a grown man having sex with a tree. She also made a remark calling the young boy in the book "Sexy" which is all kinds of wrong.

If you ask me, she is doing this for popularity or she is on some type of drugs. Since she is famous, it could be both. But once you sexualize a children's book character a lot of people will think negative of you. and when you steal the song of a more famous singer (and powerful) you will also receive hate. You will have advocacy up in your face protesting for you to be defamed basically.

I actually don't know how they will be able to make her image better. Not even the best seedy managers ca do it unless they tell her to shut up, cry crocodile tears, be nice and clean or she will simply disappear like many that have come before her.
