Bang Bang: Sympathy for Lady vengeance

Truly a gruesome film that is completely awesome! May not be as action packed as Old boy but it's still as good.

"A Christian musical procession waits outside a prison for Lee Geum-ja (Lee Young-ae), a recently reformed female prisoner, who had been convicted of murdering a young schoolboy, Won-mo. The case, a national sensation because of her young age at the time of the murder and innocent appearance, earns her a lengthy prison sentence, reduced because of her apparent spiritual transformation in prison and her good conduct toward other inmates, results in the nickname of the "Kind-Hearted Geum-Ja". As Lee Geum-ja emerges from prison, she immediately sidesteps the procession, intent on revenge."

Lee Geum-ja is a woman on the rocky path of vengeance and will not stop until she gets what she wants. But she also wants to reconnect with the daughter she gave up because she went to prison. So she actually has something to lose that she will never want to.

The dynamic of these two are really special since besides revenge the only other thing keeping Lee Geum-ja alive is her daughter "jenny:
Lee Geum-ja is a woman who earned the nicknamed "Kind Hearted Geum-ja" because she protected other inmates and her "spiritual transformation". When in truth she was just trying to get out of jail faster. She is a wonderful character that keeps you on the edge of your chair wonderfully what she will do next.
Mr. Baek is the bad guy of the film, at first you might think he is a good guy playing with children. But you'll quickly snap out of it as soon as you see him fuck his wife on the kitchen table that seems so emotionless on his part. You start to see his more twisted dark nature as the film goes on, he is a character that truly represents this sick world.

Lee Young-ae is truly stellar in this film, the best movie I have ever seen her in. Choi Min-sik was also awesome but his character is hard to like in this film. I hope to be able to see Lee Young-ae take on a real role this one in the future. I suggest this film to those that are fans of Old Boy and that like gruesome films.
